I'm new here, so please forgive me if I have not done this correctly. I'm looking for some help on converting SH4 to a widescreen format. My widescreen has a 21.9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2560x1080. I've searched the Master Gaming List and did a Forum search. All I came up with is something about playing the game on triple screens.

Sometimes you can use a similar game to get ideas that will work. I would suggest starting there.

It may have helped if you described your specific problem in-game, & what manual techniques you have tried to fix it.

Sorry about now giving any specifics. The basic problem that in full screen everything is stretched. Circles look oval and the ships are elongated.

As for manual fixes, I have tried nothing because I did not know what to do.

I have never played this game, so will be of no further help. But here are some ideas to get you started.

Based on your problem & the hints given in related games:
0. Spreading this game properly will likely not be easy (assuming it's possible). If that matters, stop now.

1. Your first step should be:
Try to edit your game's resolution, in a cfg file (& if resolution edit doesn't stick in-game, try making cfg read-only).
SH5 hints that this file may be in subfolder under Documents, but it could be elsewhere (e.g. path-to-game).
If you get this to work, it may well not be a complete solution (some vert- views or something else like that).

2. Other promising ideas:
- There is a modding tool that works with SH5 & may fix specific problem views (S3D, aka Silent 3ditor)
- The DX9 tool available from from SH3 entry could also be attempted: http://www.wsgf.org/dr/silent-hunter-iii

3. Backup ideas (failing all else):
- windowed game, spread to borderless with ShiftWindow (or WinShift). May require cfg resolution edit.
- SoftTH fullscreen (adding 2 files, likely beside game's exe).
- registry (unlikely. search for part of game-name in keys to see if aspect/resolution values exist)
- HxD (hex edit, hard. Looking for aspect &/or resolution to edit, in hex)

Here's fix for Silent Hunter 4 - Wolves of the Pacific Uboat Missions v.1.5
Replace sh4.exe and CameraBehavior.act in the game folder from this archive:

I've come across another problem after with SH4. The game looks and plays very well, but with the resizing of the game some of the menu screens are now to big for the continuation between patrols. Is there anyway that these screens can be resized so they can be used as intended?

Try out the modder, it is capable of stuff like that & I believe works with SH4. (all this pretty certain but no guaranty.

Save game and screenshot with corrupted menu will be helpful.

Most of the screens are from the beginning and of the patrols in career mode Below is the Operational Orders screen.
