Post subject: | Lord of the Rings :: War of the Ring Widescreen? |
Is there any way I can get this game to work in a resolution of 1920 x 1200? I tried ureschanger2, and it does set the resolution to 1920 x 1200, but the game is still running in a 4:3 environment at 1280 x 1024 with the additional screen being black. There's a rings.ini file in the WOTR (War of the Ring) directory. It contains: Code: [VideoState] Width =1920 Height =1200 Depth =32 Fullscreen = 1 [App] Product = wotr [GameSpy] ProductID = 10320 DistributionID = 898 PatchVersion = 2 GameID = 798 [Localization] AllowMaturity = 1 [Bink] UseLowQuality = 0 I set the video mode to 1920 x 1200 in this file and made it read only, but it reverts back to 1024 x 768 when doing this. I really hope I can get this game to work in Widescreen mode. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! |

Apparently WotR is built on the same engine as Warcraft 3, so maybe the solution is similar: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/Warcraft_III:_Reign_of_Chaos Otherwise, try 1280x720 windowed (Fullscreen = 0). Does it work ? How does it look ? |

Apparently WotR is built on the same engine as Warcraft 3, so maybe the solution is similar: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/Warcraft_III:_Reign_of_Chaos Registry edits did not make a difference. I'm hoping to run this game at my native resolution 1920 x 1200. Perhaps it's built into the executable? Should I use a hex editor? I did this once for another game. I don't know if it would work on this though. |

Works great, but I have noticed that it defaults to 1360 x 768 every time the game is launched. Why does it do this? You have to reset the resolution each time. Aside from that, it's awesome, and I've been playing this game on a regular basis again! :) |

Can this fix be made to work for an un-patched War of the Ring game? Whenever I try to install the patch for version 1.01.0011 it just tells me my rings.exe file cannot be patched or something I bought the game years ago and am now on Windows 7... it is very annoying as I would love to play in widescreen... please help me? |

Found a solution to my problem (no thanks to this forum), simply go to http://forums.videogames101.net/index.php?topic=448.0 and you can download the original rings.exe file for the patch to work. I now have the same problem with the resolution defaulting on each boot as own3mall, but I imagine Hell will freeze over before someone on this forum will fix it so I will just be thankful that it at least works. |
