Has anyone who's played Deus Ex: Invisible War had a similar problem? I've tried out all the methods in the DX:IW Detailed Report on this site and they work for the main menu.... but as soon as I load up a saved or new game, it reverts to 640x480. Likewise, it reverts to 640x480 any time the game goes to the loading screen (though it should be said that other settings, such as key mappings and audio, remain saved properly). This is a big problem because the only way to get the game to run in widescreen is through user.ini, before running the game. The highest in-game setting I can get is 1280x1024, and my native resolution is 1680x1050. I'm using the GeForce 8800 GT with latest drivers.

Gah, I'm starting to hate this game. Funny enough, I can get the original Deus Ex to go into 1680x1050 natively, with no tweaks whatsoever.

I can't remember DX:IW (the horror) well enough to know whether setting the .ini files to read only will fix it (I seem to remember that some of the UT engine games needed that) but...

No, I already tried that. It fixes the resolution in the main menu permanently, but when loading a game, the resolution resets. As far as I know, each new or saved game actually has its own user settings.... and so, user.ini actually is only good for the rotating DX logo, LOL.

But even if I figured out a way to edit a saved game's user settings to fix the resolution, there's still the problem of it resetting every damn time I load a new level. I've browsed every single Deus Ex forum I know of, and I seem to be the only person in the world to have this problem..... it's just so damn weird. And I hate having to hate this game, since when it first came out, I was one of its few supporters among the hardcore DX fanbase.

:(

Sorry, I can't think of anything else.

And you were a hardcore DX fan, but liked IW? Whoa. I didn't think that was possible. ;) :D
