I have the odd case of a game (The Moment of Silence) which has a fixed resolution of 1024x768 (4:3), but displays the actual game in a letterboxed format (1024x512 visible / 2:1 aspect).

My monitor's native resolution is 1680x1050. I can use fixed-aspect ratio scaling (Forceware 162.18) to maintain the proper aspect ratio, but since the black bars are actually part of the image, that results in black bars on all four sides.

Is there a way, via software, to zoom the image, maintaining the aspect ratio, fitting the width of the screen but centering it vertically so that only the narrow black bars of a 1:2 image on a 16:10 aspect ratio remain?
