i will not go into all details why, but there is a very good possibility i will purchase this display.
since the rated resolution of this monitor is pixel away from 16:9 (1366x768) i wonder:

1. how will that affect the gaming on this monitor - is it possible to make (mostly new) games to work in this resolution?

2. do games support lesser 16:9 (not 16:10!) resolutions like, say, 1280x720?

im 100% sure that a fully configurable game like doom3 will work fine in 1366x768.

3. can anybody tell me a bit more about its Active matrix TFT(a-si TFT/PVA) and how black is the black?

4. any other first hand experience is quite welcomed!

tnx all!

Hi, :welcome . Let's see if I can help answer some of your questions:

1. Well, that monitor has an 8ms response time (basically a measurment of "Ghosting") and that's pretty good. You shouldn't run into no major problems with gaming... and the Master Games List can help you lookup games to see if they can run in widescreen.

2. Most games that are widescreen compatible can run 16:9 resolutions like 1280x720, although the monitor's native resolution that you're getting (1366x768) is 16:9 but is a less popular resolution. If you use our games list you should be able to figure out how to get games running in that resolution and shouldn't be much of a problem. Oh, and you can look up Doom 3 on the master games list to get it running in widescreen also :)

3. A PVA screen is one of the best screen types, and should have very good blacks. My 24" monitor uses an MVA panel and has great black colours. You won't be dissapointed with the image quality.

-Hope I helped some!

tnx!
i didnt want to start a new thread, so heres an another question, a bit unrelated:

though im pretty set on buying the 320p... which monitor (or tv, for that matter) can you recommend me that has:

-aspect ratio of 16:9 and
-dvi input?

a diagonal around 32" would be perfect, but not as neccesarry as the ar or dvi.

also i will always be watching it from a distance so a dot pitch less than 0.5 wouldnt be good :)

and it has to have DVI...

so samsung syncmaster 320p is my current choice, although this is much more than a simple display. if anyone can recommend anything else, please do!
