Hey guys. I have a problem - I can't get BF2 to run in wide screen. I tried:

- Modding the CFG file in my documents to rez of 1680x1050
- modding my shortcut to "P:Battlefield 2BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680+szy 1050
- Modding both at the same time
- Uninstalling and re-installing the game and trying all steps again
- deleting the video.cfg file and leaving the shortcut modded

none of these settings work. my system is fairly good.

7800gt
amd 64 3200
2gb OCZ 3200
my monitor is a viewxonic 2025wx 20.1 inch widescreen

Any suggestions? Please help.

Edit: I forgot to say that whenever I modd the shortcut it tells me my monitor is out of range. I am SURE my monitor supports 1680 by 1050 as all my other games work just great.

maybe just a typo but you need a space between 1680 and the +

K. guys, I got it to work, thank god. I read throught he forums for like 2 hours.

What I did, was take someone's advice and switch my DVI connector to my other DVI output. For some reason it worked. Can someone explain why?

Anyway. thank you for the help.

I just bought a Viewsonic VX2025wm and also get those "Out of range" messages with my 7900 GT. I was so looking forward to Battlefield 2 at 1680 x 1050.

If *anyone* knows *anything* that can help I'd be eternally grateful (switching DVI port only results in a black screen).

Well, I'm thinking that could be the problem - BF2 is trying to launch at 1680 x 1050 @ 75hz which isn't supported. That's the only reason I can think for an "out of range message" (apart from the sesolution being to high).

Is there any way I can check that screen is not trying to run at anything higher than 60hz? Or better yet, can i *force* BF2 to launch at 1680 x 1050 @ 60hz?

by using the hack in the config files you should be able to.

Go to your documents/BF2 folder/config.con or something

in there you should find it. I'm at work otherwise I'd post mine.
