Sorry if someone has already posted anything on this but here is my problem. I installed the 1.03 patch and now I can't seem to play at 1920x1200 on my Dell 2405. If I remember correctly, this resolution was a choice in the options resolution choices before but now isn't. I've tried typing in the correct res in the video configuration files and also the start-up icon on my desktop but to no avail. I'm running at 1600x1200 now but it just doesn't seem to look as good as it used to. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I've never had it as an option in my menu. I use the shortcut method (copied and pasted from mine):

"D:GamesEA GAMESBattlefield 2BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200

Thanks XenoS, that seems like it did the trick. At least I think it looks like 1920x1200 now. Can't tell for sure. Funny, I tried that before but I guess maybe I had the syntax wrong on the shortcut. Anyway, thanks again!

I'm using that command switch too. Thx Xenos. :D Even if it isn't in true widescreen, the game still looks great at 1680x1050, and I don't have to switch my NV control panel settings everytime I play the game.

I just got a Dell 2005FPW and tried using that shortcut but all it does is the black screen --> back to desktop and BF2 shuts down.

Any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong? I read a bunch of forums on this and made sure the following:

.. I typed, not cut/pasted, the +szx 1680 +szy 1050

.. Saw a few different versions, with quotes at end, double at beginning, etc - think I tried them all

.. Drivers for display are installed

.. Running an A64 4000+, 2GB Corsair XMS, X800 XT AIW (in case that matters lol)

Thanks in advance for any ideas...

If you had it installed before with a different monitor, you need to get rid of all of the configuration settings files for BF2 that are spread around, before it will start correctly. Not sure where they all are, though - try checking through the BF2 threads. :)

Or I think the slightly simpler method also works: uninstall and reinstall the game...

I think the default is in the My DocumentsBattlefield 2 directory. All settings should be kept there, including video related stuff. If you delete everything you will have to set up everything again, including keyboard bindings, which may be a real pain depending on how much you change them from the default.

YOu have to delete the game shortcut as well, and remake it

This has been stated in this long thread somewhere, but you need to change one line in your video.com file in your Profile or profiles.

My DocumentsBattlefield 2Profiles002 or 0001, and others if you have them.Just change the line "VideoSettings.setResolution" I suspect it has something to do with the refreash rate from your old moniter.
i.e. My old CTR was set at: VideoSettings.setResolution 1280x960@100Hz

I just changed it to something diffrent and set the refresh rate to the max that my dell 24005 could do: VideoSettings.setResolution 1280x1024@75Hz

Problem of crashing was fixed.

One other thing Guys, If a game that came out 2 years ago "Far Cry" can support True Widescreen then the problem we have is with a second rate game developer "DICE".. My opinion is simple, they lucked out with a new Idea in BF1942, but there programing expertise & knowlage of gaming in general is lacking in a big way. As far as EA is concerened, they have already made their money so as they always have, they could care less.

Dear EA (DICE),

I would like to report an Problem with you game Battlefield 2. I would also like to bring to your attention a technical issue with your game.

Problem for EA (DICE):

Your game does not support the proper field of view for widescreen monitors.

Issue for EA (DICE):

It's annoying that I have to use a commandline hack to set my resolution to 1920 x1080.

EA (DICE): Please fix the problem first then address the issue if you have time.
