Is he saying that most games are designed around 16:9 and thus 16:10 is "Hor-"? I think that might be what he is saying.

I suppose he is right, but it's not really a flaw we can knock.

Yeah it seems you're advocating "vert-" behaviour which is exactly what we're against. If you like this behaviour, maybe you should take a look at the great tallscreen screenshot project thread for games which support a fixed horizontal scale.

it was obvious to me from the first post he wants a world where all aspects other than 16:10 are "___ -". 16:9 aspects would be vert -, and 4:3 aspects would be "hor -".

he thinks 16:10 is what everything should be optimized for. he just really really sucks at communicating his point

If that's the case I think he misunderstands what the site is about, which is basically "wider is better." 16:9 is wider than 16:10.

Also more to the point 16:10 is not a mainstream ratio and is slowly being killed off anyway. You can't even find a 16:10 monitor in a retail store anymore and eventually they will stop making them. It would be unwise for developers to focus on a PC-only aspect ratio which isn't even favored for PCs anymore.
