Steam has actually improved quite a bit since it first (well, when Half-Life 2) came out..

The Steam-ed version of HL-1 Looks quite a bit better than the original - better lighting, textues, A.I., and eer HL2 water effects.

I was pretty hesitant to buy it, but it was certainly worth a whole $10.

And of course it supports widescreen very well.

Yeah, I suppose I'll have to bite the bullet and pay for the Source copy that got preloaded along with Episode One ;)

I would suggest the Half Life Anthology... comes with the expansions for the same $10 and the source version's "enhancements" are extremely minor, and they remove all mod ability.

It's still a steam game, but it's the better one.
