Make a backup of mainapp.exe.

Open up mainapp.exe in a hex editor, such as this one:

http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.htm

Go to the Search menu and choose "Replace"

Replace all instances of the hex string for 800x600, which is "20 03 00 00 58 02", with the appropriate widescreen resolution you want (there should be 4 instances):

1900x1200: "80 07 00 00 B0 04"

1680x1050: "90 06 00 00 1A 04"

1440x900: "A0 05 00 00 84 03"

I used this trick originally for MVP Baseball 2005, and tried it out for Madden 07, and it worked just fine! I hope this helps.

I am unable to find "20 03 00 00 58 02" in mainapp.exe with the hex editor that you linked... Am I missing something?

It would be awesome if I could get the game to fill the entire screen! :)

I'm not finding 800 x 600 in the hex editor either. I've done this for MVP 2005 so I know what you mean and how to do it, but like the previous poster said, I don't see the hex for 800 x 600 coming up.

If there's a 640x480 option (I'm not sure), you can replace that. It should have the hex sequence "80 02 00 00 E0 01"

I tried this on both the installed version of mainapp.exe and also the copy that's on the original DVD (just in case the installed version gets altered in some way after playing), but no luck.

unnes - it looks like this fix has only worked for you so far. Do you have a different version of the game?

How about a hex code for 1360x768?

I have the same issues on my HDTV.
its a 30" samsung WS HDTV

the madden menu screen gets so cut off Im basically blindly clicking to find the right buttons just to start a game.

I havent even gotten as far to see if the gameplay will be in the right screen res, but the menu screen sure isnt. Im going to try window mode when I get home today, but I doubt that will make a difference.

its ridiculous that you cant change the in-game menu screen res through the .ini file

thats usually how Ive changed every other game to work on my WS HDTV

frustrating

** just a quick update. I went home at lunch time to try some things out.
I have an ATI card, so I updated the drivers(for winxp there is some relativly new ones out)

it helped somewhat....

I can now see the entire loading screen and menu screen no problems. but when I go into game play, the top and bottom are cut off about one inch. I cant see what down it is for example. so that sux.

also..the entire time madden is up and running there are the 2 black bars on the side of my screen/tv
