Boeka Bart and myself are proud to announce that Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns now runs on any resolution!

Thanks to the initial work done for Age of Empires II patch, we have ported the application and have introduced a new GUI interface that will also update the AoEII Patch.

Image

Like the AoEII Patch, it writes a new exe and a new version of interfac.drs and interfac_x1.drs, both with a different name. The patched exe refers to the new DRS files, so the original files will not be modified in any way.

The No-CD version of the game is required, as well as the latest .NET 3.5 SP1 framework. Once the installation is successful, a batch file will be placed on your desktop to execute the game.

Please consider donating if you want to show gratitude for all the hard work put in to make this happen. This will help us support the patch, and support the interested community in support questions and updates.

Please make sure that you run the exe from the game folder. You will then be able to select the patch file to begin the process.

Widescreen SWGB, here we come.

Again, excellent :bowdown
Probably sold my copy eons ago and it's not quite as cheap a second-hand game as I thought it would be. If only I had known how much I'd want it right now...

Also,we will be putting up download links soon, we decided there are a couple little things we should change to make the patch more friendly.

Would this patch happen to work with triplescreen resolutions?

While I am still working on the GUI a bit, you can get the latest compilation I did here.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1525839/Programs/SWGBWide.exe

and the latest patch here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1525839/Programs/AoE2Wide_swgb.patch

To patch the game follow pretty much the same instructions for Age of Empires. Put the patcher and patch file in the star wars game directory, along with the original age of empires exe and original rootpatch. Then launch the patcher, select the swgb patch and it will autopatch the game to your resolution. The tripple head situation would work, but you would have to arrange your monitors in windows so that all three are detected as one huge screen (I know there's software out to do it)

Thanks,
TheWiz

I still don't get it. I did everything you said exactly as written but nothing happens at all. The Program is always looking for output.txt

Well, I followed the instructions and got the game up and running, and my monitor is configured as a single screen as you suggested (this is default for me, anyway.) however upon attempting to start a game, it simply crashes.

Here is what the crash log from windows said:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: age2_x1_swbg_5040x1050.exe
Application Version: 1.1.0.0

Running patch 1.1, as the crash report suggests, windows 7 64-bit. I ran it from the .bat on my desktop. Running it from the .exe file would cause my game to look very funky (UI pulled out but only an 800x600 viewport.)

However! 1680x1050 is working perfectly. I probably shouldn't expect this game to work across 3 screens, lol.

There's no reason it shouldn't work accross all three screens. What happens with two monitors plugged in. Also the 800x600 viewport when running the exe happens because u need the batch to run in the right screen mode (1280x1024 option in game)

Try some standard resolutions like 1920x1200 etc, then try adding in your second screen and post results. because its based on the AOEII patch it could very well be the actual patching procccess that isn't patching values for that high res correctly.

Thanks,
TheWiz
