So I bought it, played about an hour of it, and it sucks. There is something wrong with the way it plays/controls. I've only used the keyboard, and I'll try it with the gamepad, but wow so far the delay on the turning is pathetic and the difference between pro and experienced is way too big, expereinced is okay, but seems to slow me down, the pro is just insane.

Ranting cos I can. But what a waste of money the game so far is.

Plays good with my wheel so I imagine you will be good when you use a controller with analog axis. Grid wins the award for worst controlling game for me :D

Even with a controller I never managed well in that game.

Took me a while, but I kinda like the controls (keyboard here). Grip & traction resistance (or whatchamacallit) make me really feel the road & velocity of the car. Satisfyingly challenging, I'd say. Playing with my X360 gamepad is clearly easier, but I prefer the keyboard for Precision driving nonetheless. Pads are for tards anyway.

Assists aside, car upgrades are obviously crucial for better handling. I just got my second Works upgrade and I really like the game. So give it another couple hours maybe ?

I'm with maharie, shift sucks. I snagged Undercover and it reminds me more of the Most Wanted area. Lets just be honest. GRID came, they saw, they conquered and NFS is just the lame big name.

I only played the demo of Shift, but the more I played it the less impressed I became. Tried it with keyboard, 360 controller and Logitech G25.

I've come to the conclusion that I need a proper wheel for Forza 2/3 as well - I'm absolute pants with a controller. :( And the 360 doesn't like the G25. :(

I'll suffer through it untill I get some more upgrades etc etc but so far it's balls. However the graphics are nice to look at.

Try it with MODS ...

It changes the gameplay completely...

You can for exemple:

- Fix the stupid AI + grip level
- Remove the blur at high speed
- Remove the virtual wheel and hands
- Remove the bloom effect

There are tons of mods already for this game...

With the 4 mods mentioned here for me the game is much more enjoyable...

My curiosity is if they got rid of rubber banding or not.

Effectively this was rubberbanding in need for speed most wanted

I cause a car to crash in to another car, hit the NOS and get going 200 and leave them 2000 feet in the dust, somehow they manage to catch up all 200 feet through hairpin turns and pass me on a straight at a faster speed than I can hit the NOS to.

Can't you launch a red turtle shell or something?
