You can get it here: http://www.agdinteractive.com/downloads/thegame/downloads_snd.html This is basically a fan remake of Sierra's classic adventure RPG Quest for Glory II. Graphically, it's not that big an update. The game was made in 1990, and the remake looks about par for a game made in 1992. But the real star of the show is the completely revamped fighting engine. The fighting is a whole lot harder than in the original, but potentially more satisfying too. If you're going to play as a fighter, I strongly suggest you read these tips. Especially if you've played the original and could potentially incorrectly assume things about this based on the original. Minor spoilers note, though. Grind all of your fighting stats to 200 as soon as you can. Including dodge and parry. The fighting engine was designed using maxed-out stats as a baseline, which means anything less than that is a serious handicap. At one point in the game you will leave the starting city by caravan, and if your stats are not maxed out when this happens, you will be very sorry. When you start out, don't expect to be able to handle desert brigands. They will most likely kick your ass. Anything stronger is outright suicide. Spend several days training in the adventurer's guild before you fight monsters. Once you're strong enough to kill two brigands in a row without resting, always carry a good supply of both healing and stamina pills. Once you leave the city by caravan you won't get any more, and if you run out, you will once again be very sorry. |

Sounds interesting. But I struggle to understand why anyone would want to play a game that can just completely massacre them without even trying. It'd be like cheating at patience. |

The point is to train a lot. A hell of a lot. Expect to spend the first couple of days not venturing far outside the starting city. You can't die from training, which makes it great for grinding your stats early on, and once you're reasonably buff, you stand a good chance against most of the game's monsters. And if grinding stats for surviving fights isn't your style, there are two other classes in addition to the fighter - the magic user and the thief. I haven't played them yet in the remake, but in the original it's possible to go through the entire game as a magic user or thief without fighting a single battle. In fact, one of the hallmarks of the series is that the different classes play so differently from eachother that it's practically like three games in one. Puzzles tend to have at least three solutions, one suited best to each of the classes' abilities, and there are even entire plot branches that are only open to a single class. |
