I'm a WoW fanatic, and I'm thinking about purchasing the Dell 2405. I just built a new system:

amd64 4000+ San Diego
2GB Corsair
X850 PE PCI-Express

I currently play at 1280x1024 on a 19" Sony LCD. I have all game settings maxed (except for AF, not a fan), all options on, run 2x AA, and I usually get 50-60 fps, dropping to the 30's and 40's in heavily populated areas. I was wondering what kind of impact I might expect going to 1920x1200.

I'm also a framerate junky, and I fear losing my performance. Can anyone post their experiences including game settings, resolution and fps numbers?

Thanks...

For everyone reading, I got such a good deal on this LCD ($779 - use coupon code 629P2JKBS7CWWD for small businesses, expires 7/21) that I bought two of them (my wife is a WoW fanatic too, lucky for me). Oh well, if the framerates drop, it's dual 7800's for me!

I'll report back if anyone is interested.

I just got that monitor recently, WoW runs really well at that res with all settings maxed. I'm using a 3700+ with ati800xt. ( looks best if you turn the gamma down a bit in the video options ) 1600x1200 works really well to centered, totally fills screen top to bottom, so no stretching.

It can slow down a bit when in crowded places, but It would probably do that at other res to.

I do get some annoying patches of stuttering, but I think that is down to somehting else, I've heard other players grumbling about it as well.

I feel the same way about framrates, I can't stand it when it drops below 60. I've only got an A64 3200+ with an x800xtpe and the framrates remain consitantly high at 1920x1200 no AA but 8x AF. I can't remember them dropping anywhere except in Ogrimmar, or places where large numbers of people gather, but thats to be expected at just about any res.

I just got a Dell 2405FPW and I can't seem to get WOW to run at 1920x1200, the option just isn't there. The highest I've got is 1600x1200. I'm running an x800. Any help?

Reinstall to let it redetect your monitor? Or run the graphics tool, if it's got one...

Indoors i generally get 60fps-ish. Outdoors with long viewing distances I generally bounce between 30-40 pfs.

This is on a p4 3.4ee/GFX 6800-U/2.0gb ram system while running at 1920x1200@60hz. All video options are cranked out to max.

WOW is generally server-side lag to me when slowdown occurs, ESPECIALLY if you play on proudmoore like i do :(

you can play in widescreen without stretching, just select the widescreen res, and in your gameplay settings make it so that the camera zoom is maxed. You can zoom a crazy distance from your character so you dont miss anything by using a smaller res.

 i think it supporst 1920x1200
