[quote]I feel that GTA has moved away from fun to realistic...
What makes you think that :?:
The fact that it's predominantly dark, dark, brown, grey, dark, brown... I remember GTA1 being a fairly bright game. And even GTA3 and San Andreas weren't as monotonously coloured as GTA4. I say this as someone who has played the PS3 version. Vice City was fairly colourful too.

What makes you think that :?:Dark, dingy...you honestly look at it and it looks like a city. Not to mention this whole thing of having to hang out with people to gain jobs and stuff. If I wanted something realistic...I'd wonder around downtown with a gun.

I partially agree. (Can't judge the gameplay, I don't know how it works in GTA4.) VC & SA were maybe "less monotonously coloured", but they had pretty crappy consoley textures and FX, too
The devs probably thought "our fans are older now, they want something that looks more real, with a darker mood"... Same for UT3; same critics. Looks like graphics of the 'next-gen' era always end up being either "too flashy" (for bloom & HDR to show off) or "too grey"

I for one don't mind grey virtual worlds, as long as I can wreak some flashy havoc in'em

Personally I would love for a texture mod and shader mod that made things a little more colorful and less monochromatic/shitbrown. This disscussion has gotten me to thinking what Vice City (IMO the most visually pleasing GTA) would look like if done correctly with this newest GTAengine.

I say go for broke: 100% grayscale texture/shader mod for GTAIV. :D

Vice City (IMO the most visually pleasing GTA)

I guess I should pick up VC. Many guys have said they think it's the best of the series.

What, you mean like that garbage movie, what was it, Sin City or some such? Had Bruce Willis in it.

Easily, though I have not played GTA4,2 or the original.

Terrible film. Watched it and 300 on the same day.

And came to the conclusion that any film that has Frank Millers' name attached was only worthwhile using as a shuriken after sharpening the edges. ;)

...

GeneralAdmision... Vice City was probably the most interesting of the GTA games, aside from the novelty factor of GTA1 (as it hadn't been done before)...

Anyone played Scarface: the world is yours?

Basically Vice-City rip off, though Vice-City is obviously inspired from the movie Scarface... so....

Anywho, it's a pretty wicked game.
