You can go on assuming all DLC is content ripped from the game and content not worth playing Cranky, but the only person who suffers for it is yourself.
All gamers suffer when content is ripped from the game and sold separately. Those who don't buy the DLC get less of a game. Those who do buy it are paying extra. If anything, I'm suffering for it less than anyone else, since I wait until it's all out there and sold at a reasonable price.
This entire thread frankly reads like "cranky old PC gamer fears change."
It's not that we "fear" change. It's that we value things that industry trends are moving away from so that they can squeeze a few more bucks out of the impulse buyers.
Right now, I can re-install both Baldur's Gate games, with one expansion pack each, and play them back to back with almost 100% of the content that was officially developed for the game. 10 years down the line, this will still be possible. Will it be possible with Dragon Age? Or will historians be stuck with a game where NPCs talk about side-quests that are long unavailable?
