It seems RE5 actually only supports up to 3840x1024, 4320x900 or 5040x1050 will make it CTD.

Pretty weird since the benchmark demo could run perfectly at 5040x1050.

You'll probably find it's some sort of SecuROM or other DRM protection. :( There has been the odd report in the past of games requiring no-CD .exes or DRM-free patches to get 'strange' resolutions working. Why, I have no idea... but I do remember one or two occurrences unless my memory is completely shot.

Hm... interesting.

Could you try using the demo .exe with the full game?

The problem is that its still possible to run the benchmark with the retail version (its included), at 5040x1050, everything runs fine, game is hor+, etc..., but when you launch the game (to actually play it), any resolution higher than 3840x1024 will crash it.

Do you mean the newer nv driver is what restored Surround support to what it was in the demo ?

Also guys, is this game worth more than a try ? I mean, controls aside, the point of view sucks, gameplay is a complete joke, and it's not even scary. Passable Surround support and awesome performance are the only good things I find about this game. Is there eventually some genuine fun to be had in RE5 ? :?

Graphcis are great, but controls sux, surround support is 3D "only" (lol incredible eh), 2D parts including menu and HUD are completely messed (cut parts, almost impossible to navigate).
Latest Nvidia driver added DX10 support (at least for me), i can run it at 5040x1050 but ill wait for a 2D "fix".

It's ok... I think the visual appeal is the only thing really keeping me playing through it. It feels pretty archaic, and not like a PC game, but it is ok for 10 hours of shooting in cool enviornments.
