Scratch one off XP and add it to Vista, I'm a convert. Friend of mine moved to a new uni and got me a copy of Vista Ultimate on the cheap. 64-bit version working wonderfully so far.

I wish my University had Ultimate x64. All they will give me is the upgrade disk for Ultimate x32.

Wow. As if I wasn't already completely depressed and regretted pre-ordering it, that's kinda sealed it....
The only slight bit of optimism I have left to hold on to is that the Steam version may be a little less of a faff to setup. But that's either optimism, or stupidity.
Anyway, don't de-rail this thread :P

Don't worry. If you're not a complete dumbass with respect to computers you will whine and moan the first time you have to set everything up (i did this a lot while it was all installing), but once it's setup it really doesn't get in the way much at all. (With everything on auto sign-in).

Now Apple and Microsoft can be well known for selling the same product more than once.

However, I must say that Windows 7 is faster and more stable than Vista.

Yep even at this pre alpha stage with minimal performance tweaks its been faster all around than Vista. That means its already faster than XP as well. haven't had a chance to check out the beta version of it yet but I assume its even faster. :D
