Be aware that AMD have recently had all sorts of audio issues with HDMI, mainly that if you turn the TV off and back on, the connection is lost and you have to manually pull out the cable and plug it back in to re-establish audio. It prompted me to swap from AMD to Nvidia, which was the best thing ever.

Exactly zero problems with a silent (fanless) Nvidia GT520 in my media PC. No noise, no problems. More than I can say for my very recent AMD experiences using the latest drivers. I am surprised anyone would have issues. I just plugged it in and it worked, unlike AMD where I had to manually configure overscan off etc.

QFT. I "solved" it by setting HDMI as default device and restart my computer with my monitor turned off and my tv (HDMI) on. Not exactly elegant, but at least it works every time.
