GOOD NEWS!, Filefront is officially back open. In a heroic effort to save the community, the original founders of Filefront got hold of Ziff Davis and signed a deal today to buy back Filefront from them!!!

Although it is odd and coincidental all this happened around/on April Fool's Day, we are being assured no prank was involved.

It's my B day this month, this is the perfect present. :D

Just saw that news myself. Happy turn of events indeed. Hopefully the staffers who got pink slips will get re-hired immediately. Judging by some of the comments in the forums, they got blindsided by the shutdown just as much as the filefront community.

At one point I did notice that the file navigation trees for each game site had been removed, though the files were still on the servers. Looks like the founders swooped in just in time to save all that content. Bravo to them; sucks to ZD upper management.
