It's easy to appreciate Alpha Protocol for its high ambitions; it's just not that much fun to play it.

So the same people who though Chinatown Wars was "fantastic" think this game is mediocre. So does that mean this game is putrid?

I went tloking at reiews a few days ago and that seems to be the concensus; that it's has done cool ideas, but all seemingly 80% finished. May some patches will help. If they release any.

Well i've put about 5 hrs into it and so far it is AWESOME! If you liked Mass Effect 1 and Bourne Identity type universe with a semi-cliche character fest filled spy-thriller then this IS FOR YOU! It's great. No bugs on PC version for me. (gameplay wise. when i exited the game once it did go to a black 3d background with my thornton dude running around... like that simpsons episode where homer goes through to the 3d plane.... was a hilarious bug. didn't affect the actual game though). Runs great otherwise on 260gtx/q9450. Hacking is hard and awful with the WASD and mouse but i still figured it out in about 3 minutes of frustration. Amazing. Really cool story/interactive choice in conversations... and really branching storyline and your decisions DO have an impact. Currently going pistols/stealth/sabotage route and halfway through moscow.

I've been burned by Obsidian before (the ending of KoTOR 2 was awful).

I would be happy to see them establish themselves as a good game company, as opposed to the people called in to make Bioware sequels when Bioware doesn't have the time (see KoTOR 2 and Neverwinter Nights 2).

The Deus Ex aiming is what throws off the console reviewers... the game is great if you want an actual RPG and don't mind some rough edges.
