Read Full Detailed Report - Prototype

Prototype is an open world action video game developed by Radical Entertainment and published by Activision. The game is set in New York City, where a virulent plague known as BLACKLIGHT is spreading through Manhattan. Those infected are mutated into hideous monsters of varying form, and an uncontrollable urge to kill all uninfected life-forms.

The United States Marine Corps, under the command of the black ops organization Blackwatch, is dispatched to contain it. At the center of it is the protagonist, Alex Mercer, an incredibly powerful shapeshifter with no memory of his past. Alex has the ability to absorb other individuals, taking on their biomass, memories, experiences, and physical forms. Parallel to the game's storyline is the ability to play the game as a sandbox-style video game giving the player freedom to roam Manhattan.

Did 1280x720 and 1280x800 work natively, or did you need to hack them in with hex?

Major outstanding DR omissions:
Do 1280x720, 1280x768, 1280x800, 1440x900, 1680x1050, 1920x1080, and 1920x1200 work natively?
Do TH resolutions work natively?
Do we show lenience for vert - FMVs in TH or not?

THe res you can selevet5 depends on the vram you have, but as stated in the opther threa, that's not always the case. Me and my 512mb video card can select 1440x900, 1600x900 and 1680x1050, but cannot select the lower resolution not tested. 14x9 seems to be the lowest i can select. Odd. My buddys 1gb video card can select 1920x1080 and 1920x1200. So they work, too.

Thanks, MobsterOO7.

General consensus is that vert - TH FMVs should be overlooked. Since the engine can support 1440x900 and up natively as long as you've got the horsepower for it, I think we can call those natively supported. So,

I didnt try them but 1280x768 and 1280x800 were in my dropdown box for selection natively. I did not check if 720p was there though.

I didn't have to hack anything to get 1280x720 to work, in fact I had to de-hack my game to even select a different resolution. I believe we can call it native.

Would you mind trying them to make sure they work? And doublecheck 720p too?

I dont have the game installed anymore sorry :/

I dont see any reason why they would not work, it uses an arbitrary resolutions list so All the resolutions that show up natively should work no questions asked.

The first post also lists it as tested.

Is it really an arbitrary resolutions list? MobsterOO7 says he had to hack it to make faux-TH resolutions work. I think that implies there are some hard-coded limitations.

Anyway, I do want to know for sure whether real TH users can have their resolution supported natively or not. Certified if they can, B+ if they need to hack it.

The only resolutions needing hacking are the ones that don't show up in the menu, all the other ones work fine straight from the options menu.
