Read Full Detailed Report - Rag Doll Kung Fu

Developed by Qi Studios, Rag Doll Kung Fu is a unique fighting game created with the Source engine.Players control their characters by mouse movements and the dragging body parts of their avatars. Powerful moves can be accomplished with specific motions of the mouse that can be used to defeat your opponent or move around the arena. The in-game avatars are stretched based on the mouse movements and can be guided to destroy objects or pick them up and use them as weapons.
Players can customize the appearance of their avatar and compete against other players online. There are many additional games in addition to combat such as soccer that are available.Time to break out the jelly-armed, hundred-hand slap.

This will require some careful image superimposition to determine whether this is "hor + with some vert -" or "vert - with some hor +". In all of these, the wider aspect ratio shot is in black and white.

4:3 on 16:10:

4:3 on 16:9:

16:10 on 16:9:

All three of these are more hor + than vert -. So this game is "hor + with some vert -".

I'll look at the rest of the review tomorrow. It's 3:30 AM right now and I think I'm about to collapse face-first on my keybdASFer

Ok, I'm awake again.

==Cut-scenes==

I noticed that the letterboxed cut-scenes are vert -. And that FMV quality would be subpar if this game were for Sega CD. Blech.

==Grading==

Calculated grade: B

Major unresolved issues: None
Minor unresolved issues: None

Summary of widescreen-related flaws:
Stretched HUD
Stretched or vert- FMVs

Cranky's coverage estimate: 100%

I guess I am slipping. :(

The FMVs are in line with the old Kung Fu movie look. There is a filter in the game options menu that changes the look for everything else.
