Maybe, but I don't have time for another RPG. I've got too many lined up as it is, and I haven't even finished the first three Gothics yet. That and I've got four and a half seasons of Star Trek TNG left to watch.

Time to quit your job and leave your wife, I say.

Did that already. I wouldn't be much of a hermit otherwise.

There is a way to remove the HUD stretching in ultra wide res.

Edit RisendatainiConfigDefault.xml

VirtalWidth=""
VirtalHeight=""

enter your own resolution there and it will scale perfectly, the background images will still be stretched though

Thanks! StingingVelvet - think you could incorporate that info into your DR, and maybe update the faux-TH shots as well?

Sure, give me a bit of time and I will write it up and redo the shots... I don't know about editing the deault config though, hopefully those lines are in the user config.

Those lines are not in the user config by default but you can add them yourself to section:

EnableDrawScale="True"
VirtalHeight="800"
VirtalWidth="3840"

I never checked this before but any non 4:3 or 16:9 resolution has stretching of the HUD and 2D elements. You can see it in the 16:10 gameplay pic in the report.

I will try the above fix later, I imagine it would work.

EDIT - It looks like 16:10 is using the 16:9 aspect ratio for scaling. So the 16:10 stuff is narrower than it should be. You can see this by looking at the inventory squares which are rectangles in 16:10. I would guess 5:4 would be using the 4:3 aspect ratio as well.

Ah, 360 ports!

Ah, 360 ports!

It was made and designed for the PC, the port to 360 was done by another company and done very poorly, it is not a 360 port.

And I don't really see what you are saying with the HUD, it looks almost identical, maybe slightly thinner, but 16:10 is a thinner res... neither looks stretched at all...

I was referring to the behavior of supporting 4:3 and 16:9 perfectly and then lumping all other aspect ratio support under those two. A lot of 360 ports have this problem. It was not meant to slur the game, just the behavior.

And that is the problem. They should be the same dimensions exactly. The size of the elements can change in some cases between aspect ratios but they really should not. Most of the time they should be the same size and dimensions if the number of vertical pixels are the same.

So a 1920x1200 pic and a 1600x1200 pic should have a HUD of the same size. As you can see by the health bars the 16:10 is narrower then it should be because it is using a 16:9 aspect ratio instead of a 16:10 aspect ratio. It is in fact stretched vertically, or compressed horizontally, whichever sounds cooler.

EDIT - If you are having trouble seeing it look for simple shapes like squares and circles to compare. In this case, use the gold coin in the inventory box.

Well, you obviously meant it as calling the game a 360 port, and I wanted to clear that up right away for those reading that it is not one. The game was developed as a PC exclusive but the publisher later decided to have an outside developer port the game to the 360.

It looks to me like 16:10 might be a little squashed, but it is very minor. I wouldn't even have noticed it if you hadn't pointed out the coin specifically. Cranky didn't notice it in my pics.

I don't think it should effect the rating, personally.
