Time for newb check-in. To be clear I'm a newb to the boards and to multi monitor gaming but I'm not a newb to gaming. I've been playing video games for about 35 yrs. and making them for 17 yrs.

I joined up because I upgraded my PC as my previous one was getting long in the tooth (6 years old). I decided to create a system to handle widescreen gaming because it looked really cool and figured if I was going to do it I should do it to excess.

I ended up with:
- Intel I7 5820K w/ Cooler Master 120V
- Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SOC mobo
- 16 gigs DDR4
- 1 TB SSD
- 2 TB 7200 RPM HDD
- (3) EVGA GTX980s in SLI mode.
- EVGA 1200 watt power supply
- Antec Nine Hundred Series case
- (3) Benq GW2765HT monitors

It's a bit of overkill but I wanted to future proof it a bit and I think I've succeeded within my budget. We also had to get my wife a new PC so that was part of the overall budget.

That's all for now. Look forward to participating in discussions here.

Hi Matt
:welcome

1TB SSD that definitely falls into the category excess. xD

Let's hope you enjoy wide screen gaming and all your future games will support it :)

Looks sick, except the motherboard is the wrong chipset.

Yes you are correct. I referenced the mobo for a previous iteration of the system. I'm not building it myself but instead having a local business do it.

This system started with just an i5 and single GTX980 but incrementalism creeped in and the thing just snowballed.

The motherboard I ended up with is the Gigabyte GA-X99 Gaming 5
