Thank you for a very good and precise answer Skid :) Think i finally decided to replace the 2x5970 with a 6990. 2x5970 beats a single 6990 on most benchmarks today, but i guess a 6990 is more then sufficient for eyefinity on todays games, and for the long haul, the 6990 will last longer, especially ...

First of, the question: As topic says, how is it handled. 1) Does the GPU(s) treat it as one huge resolution which is updated and then divided and sent to each monitor? 2) Does the GPU(s) do the calculations as for a 1920*1080 resolution x3 ? The background The need for more VRAM on the GPU goes up ...

Hmmmm, to be honest, i really dont which version of the 5970 i have. It says 2 GIG on the vendor page, but i have always assumed that this is the total, as in 1 GIG for each GPU on the card, so a total of 2 GIG but 1 GIG effective mem per GPU. Perhaps you could help me clarify this. These are the li...

Hi, guess i could have been more clear in my original post. Money was not an issue when choosing between the models i had listed, but money is ofc an issue compared to other monitors which may be alot more expensive. All the monitors above are in the same prize range :) I dont know how much a typica...

Thx for the reply. With regard to power, i checked the power consumption through "extreme power supply calculator" and it recommended a 750W PSU. Ill hope the 850 is sufficient. Back to the GPU, i had actually ordered a 2nd 5970 which i got today. I have it installed now and doing some testing. I do...

I got the power to run 2x5970 (corsair 850W), but the MB is the P55 type with one PCIx16 and one PCIx8. Dont know if this will have any significant impact, though i guess i should assume some performance drop compared to having 2x 16 PCE slots
