I'm not sure what issues they're getting with some of those games. For example, they claim JC2 doesn't run with xfire and eyefinity, but it runs fine for me. They have an issue with triple wide and Fear 2... which I do not have. In fact Fear 2 got specifically patched to be Hor+ at some point, which...

Why don't you just disable eyefinity and switch to normal triple monitor mode when you need to do some work?

Hydralisk_X, I wonder if you're hitting the CPU limit. Here are my findings on scaling with the Eyefinity6 card. http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/ATI_Radeon_5870_Eyefinity6_-_Featured_Review_-_Page_15 Do you have Just Cause 2? The only scaling benches I've seen are from Tom's where it appe...

Did you have another card before your 5970? If so, did you make sure to sweep the drivers first before installing the drivers for the 5970? What drivers are you running anyway? And BSOD's aren't all 'mysterious' ... keep track of what it says on the screen and maybe a quick google can tell you what'...

[quote]I'm really surprised no one's mentioned the apparent degrade of xfire scaling with resolution. Scaling resolution down or up? You'll always get lower Crossfire scaling with lower resolutions because the lower the resolution the less time is spent rendering a frame of the GPU and the more CPU...

It'll probably depend on the game (GTA IV and BC2 love quad cores etc.) In general though, higher resolution is more bottlenecked by the GPU rather than CPU. So actually running eyefinity would be less bottlenecked by your core2duo in most cases than say running on a single screen I think. I'm not s...

Well i gave up, no email at all from them, and yes i checked the spam folders of two email accounts (including a non-msn one). Same here. I was really looking forward to darksiders on PC too. My brother loved it for PS3, but one look at the 42" HDTV made me yearn for some AF and higher res textures.

Yes, if the problem is general, everyone should get it. If only some get it, it might be wise to see what differs from their setup. PC is not consoles, so the hardware soup people put together might not always be perfect. Single cards don't share the framebuffer as with dual cards and don't have cr...

bowenac might be on to something here. As you can see from Ibrins review, there is a framebuffer problem when running higher resolution. If the card runs out of memory due to higher res (and AA), I would imagine there would be more swapping in the memory from this. That might be a reason to get som...

I assume that is more of a performance hit the higher your res and not a scaling issue this should be obvious. ? That makes no sense. One reason to get multi-gpu setups is for scaling at higher resolutions. Lower res = less GPU intensive. I don't know what you mean by 'more of a performance hit'. I...

I just got my 2nd 5870 a few days ago. I'm running at 5760x1080. So far I've only experienced unplayable stuttering in Crysis Warhead (a shame). I've tried it in about 10-15 other games and there was no stuttering. My chief disappointment with Xfire Eyefinity is the overall poor scaling. Some games ...

Anyone know what the correct hex value is for 5760x1080? Also, how do you calculate the hex value for future reference? The decimal value doesn't make much sense to me either. EDIT: Well that didn't take long. Took me about 2 minutes after looking at the hex / decimal values in this thread to figure...

I will have to remind you of the importance of an IPS monitor (as I was recently reminded of myself). And what is that? I have 3x P2310H in landscape and they're perfectly fine. I think the P2310H keeps going out of stock due to all the eyefinity users grabbing it as the perfect DP monitor. It took...

The reason you need an active adapter is because the cards only have 2 RAMDAC's on them. So I imagine regardless of eyefinity or not you're going to need an active adapter assuming the 4870 also only has 2 RAMDAC's (I can't really imagine it having more than 2).

Good review :)

Looks like a 5870 at 5040x1050 is the same as a 5770 at 1920x1200

The thing I'm still curious about is whether or not xfire 5870's actually have these weird input lag / stuttering issues that a lot of users are reporting :?

I'm running at 5760x1080 with no issues.

I know that GTX480's were having crashes. My roommate's GTX480 kept crashing and he set paging files to low in the advanced video options. This fixed it for him.

I have 3x P2310H. The viewing angle isn't an issue at all in landscape. It's slightly noticeable in portrait... but I never use portrait. As for color reproduction... I've never owned an IPS panel personally... but it varies so much between TN panels themselves (all the ones I've owned all display c...
