The Linux Xplane was different instances of the game running at the same time i thought on different eyefinity groups. So not really a 24 screen eyefinity setup.

Will this card really do 12 screen eyefinity? Or is it limited to two groups of 6. Would there even be driver support for 12 screens or a more useful 9 screens 3x3 setup?

Well the Fan profile in BIOS would be based on fan speed at certain temperature and not the switch from 2D to 3D but the result is the same is it not? If you set 60% fan speed at temperature ranges 50 - 80 degress for example in the BIOS fan profile then it would provide the effect your looking for ...

You should update your BIOS to the newest ATI version. That fixed the flickers for me and why your there you could change the BIOS fan profile so you wouldn't need to use additional software or profiles to mess with the fans. You can change the fan profile with Radeon Bios Editor. According to Unwin...

There has been some interesting news around about eyefinity being compatible with the Lucid Hydra. This would open up some interesting possibilities. According to this source http://www.pcper.com/comments.php?nid=8505 "Windows 7 sees the multi-monitor setup as a single contiguous display from the AM...

You wont need to because the main card controls the displayport signal strength.

PCIe x16 v1.x has the same speed as PCIe x8 v2.x. They are exactly the same bandwidth of 4 GB/s So you can make direct comparisons.

Read this for more information http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express

There was a roundup I read a while ago sorry couldnt find it but the difference between PCIe 2.0 8x and 16x was only a couple of percent even on the 5870. So you will be fine with that motherboard for a while then you can upgrade to PCIe 3.0 in the future :D Actually I found it so ignore my waffling...

Good luck. Driver might not be out till June though :doh

Do you really want to go from IPS to TN? I thought those TN panels really sucked in portrait.

Sideefect you'll be happy to know that the newly released mount & blade:warband fully supports landscape modes. It actually says "multiple monitor mode enabled" when starting up. All HUD and menu items are centred :) Thanks. Yes I bought the game on release and happily playing it in eyefinity until...

Yes you can because they are active adapters converting a DP signal to VGA. Only the passive DVI and HDMI adapters use up the DVI clock signal.

I'm still using Fraps 3.0.3 but it works fine without crashes for monitoring FPS and recording. Only problem is it crops images taken at larger eyefinity resolutions which was fixed in 3.2xx.

Try an older version of Fraps and see if it still happens.

The limit is 8,192px. All of those are viable options. I did think about the 5x4:3 and even referenced it in the article. Issues there (at least for me) is the reduced vertical height. That would give the widest FOV. Cool. Yes reduced vertical but a lot more screen space between the bezels which co...

Would the 8k limit prevent 5x1 Portrait 30" 8000 x 2560? Is it 7999 maximum or 8001? Even if it did work Bezel management wouldn't I guess. I think using 16:10 or 4:3 monitors in portrait to increase the horizontal FOV makes more sence than using more 16:9 monitors. In 5x1 Portrait a 16:10 setup wou...

It's funny that poorly optimized games end up used more often in gaming benchmarks.

Metro 2033 isn't poorly optimised. It's heavily optimised to run like crap.

Thanks for the info. So is this a head of me if i get a second one and go crossfire, or is it a case of if i don't have it now i might be ok? Clayman, do you get this when only using a single card? It's not to do with crossfire it is an issue with the displayport connector on the card and using som...
