lol BHawthorne, for me any time is always a good time to upgrade parts of my computer anyway. It's not like I need a lot of incentive normally. :-) I did get a very strong reaction from my best friend, though: when I told him I would not be flying for weeks because of the dead screen, he launched in...

Thanks suiken. After my previous post I did more reading on this forum and realized the situation had changed for the best. Also, I can now say for certain that I won't be able to do flight sims with just one screen (and a 5:4 at that...) for several weeks to come (if I were to wait for Samsung Cana...

Yeah, the thought crossed my mind after talking with the Samsung Canada rep over the phone. First of all servicing the screen will take at least 2 to 3 weeks, plus the rep could not tell me what Samsung would do if they could not repair my screen : "Do not worry sir, we will send you a newer model i...

Well, the unthinkable just happened : one of my three screens just died on me after two years of fun. Of course, it now seems impossible to find the same model in Canada to replace the deceased component. Samsung 931C. If I replace it (assuming I cannot have it repaired/replaced by Samsung Canada), ...

People here seem to experience a lot of grief with the latest Nvidia drivers and Win 7. However, just to be clear, these problems only happen with "wide" resolutions, right? More specifically with 5040x1050? Since I'm using 3840x1024 I can go ahead and install the very latest Nvidia drivers for Win ...

Thanks for all those bits of expertise.

Since I see that problem mostly in IL-2, could that be in any way related to the fact that my nHancer profile for that sim uses Split Frame Rendering instead of Alternate Frame Rendering ?

Mhhhhh

ncix.com, my usual provider of computer goodness, has an Evga GTX 260 Core 216 on sale for 226.99 $CAD instead of 379.99 $CAD

Wonder if that's a good deal...

lol

unclebobo, thanks much for your answer. :) Could you tell me in what games you were experiencing that "slight lag"? I have to figure out if there are any significant differences between the stupendously numerous incarnations of the 260 I can see online... Sir Drip, thanks for your answer. CPU is Cor...

Haaa, thanks very much MrCrowley. Always good to know I'm not the only one suffering from some weird computer anomaly ! So it would mean even buying newer more powerful cards would not guarantee solving the problem, but it might alleviate it? After doing a search for microstuttering and IL-2 / Obliv...

Hello, right now I have a pair of GeForce 8800 GTX cards on an EVGA 790i motherboard, with 4 Gb of ram, running on Vista 32-bits. I am considering replacing the videocards with something more recent/powerful. First of all, I am experiencing technical difficulties with my system and specific programs...

Apology first: The following will probably only make sense to IL-2 owners. :) Hello, I have this weird problem in IL-2 that only happens when I run the sim in Perfect mode. If I run in Excellent mode all is fine and I get an average of 54-58 fps. In Perfect mode I get about 40-45 fps, which is to be...

So I finally decided to commit myself and go the Surround way. Check some online stores, check my local "parts" store and decide that without shipping costs they have decent prices, and I want to encourage commerce in my own city you know. So I go there yesterday, talk to a salesman behind the count...

Well I just discovered that Samsung makes a 19" version (931C) of my 22", with the exact same specs and even the same bezel. Furthermore, my usual provider of computer parts, NCIX, has this specific model on sale right now............. Of course, to add to the agonizing sense of pressure, the sale e...

Hello, this is my first posting here, although I have been lurking here ever since I bought my first WS LCD some years ago. First of all I would like to say CURSE YOU JKEEFE FOR THAT REVIEW ON SIMHQ !!! There, I sort of feel better now, although the seeds have been planted and now there is no turnin...
