Ignoring all the "evil plot to force pc gamers to get excercise and run" :P details, examining the config files it looks like it should be possible to implement a run toggle. The movement speed is explicitly defined in user.ini and a quick glance at the file looks like it supports conditional evalua... |

[quote]What I'm saying is that we can longer automatically make the assumption that if a game is vert-, it's the widescreen FOV that is wrong -- ... We can if it feels wrong in widescreen ... as it does in Bioshock and Medal Of Honor: Airborne ... and many others. Yes, but then thats no longer auto... |

I just want to remind people one thing that I brought up in another thread. (After much discussion, I am under the belief that it still holds true). Just because a game is "Vert-" doesn't necessarily mean WS is "broke". You have to examine it on a game-by-game basis. What do I mean? When they go the... |

I think 2 games is a bit small of a sample size, to make any real revelations about "defaults" ;) If you want to give WS and 4:3 users the same horizontal viewing area, then it's either black borders for 4:3 or Vert- for WS. I doubt black borders would be very popular with developers, so it would se... |

I take your point, and I agree with you about the backlash, but comparing poor widescreen support with, well, murder is, in my humble opinion, just a bit much. Heh, I definitely did not mean to equate the act with murder , but rather to simply use it as an analogy. Ie. Just because you say s... |

[quote]... In the end they're doing the right thing, and that's what matters. I wouldn't so much call it "the right thing", as it is more of an apology. Just because you say "I'm sorry" for making a mistake, does not erase the fact that you made the mistake in the first place. It'd be like a murder... |

And now begins the serious backpedaling to try and recover from this PR disaster.
But at least they are doing something.
Kudos to racer, thats one heck of a donation ;)

I haven't given it an absolute ton of thought, but I'm not sure why you are using the "constant 1000pixel diagonal" for both displays? It's been a long day, and thinking too hard makes the head hurt at this point, but I upgraded from a 19" 5:4 to 22" 16:10WS, so that my new monitor is pretty much my... |

Re: Greylantern Agreed. Remember I mentioned that this might not be the case for Bioshock, as I'm personally not qualified to tell :) However am I safe to assume that - given the implementation of 4:3 that bioshock uses (zooming out until WS, WS + vertical, or whatever you want to call it) - only on... |

re: Gabbo Thanks, I certainly tried. One thing to keep in mind though, (although I'm not sure if it's the case for Bioshock, and I have no idea how you could find out) is consider the following: Take a traditional game with true WS support. You have the regular 4:3 view, then you have the WS view, w... |

Haha, I love 2K's response, it's almost poetic. A true argument of semantics. To paraphrase: "It's not that WS sees less than 4:3, it's that 4:3 sees more than WS". Because those are two totally different things... :P I can understand their reasoning though. They wanted a WS (wide horizontally) game... |
