Hi. I have two 6950 to connect to three Dell 3008WFP 30" monitor. The only way to have all three (with Eyefinity) at 2560x1600 is using two Display port connections + one DVI Dual Link (3008WFP doesn´t support HDMI 1.3, so cannot use HDMI for 2560x1600), but they have native Displayport inputs. When... |

[I know that It wont let you use that last output with surround enabled. Are you sure?, because above says ´Connector Recommendations The following table illustrates a recommended connector diagram. Your individual system configuration may vary depending upon your PC, GPU, and Surround mode.´ I thin... |

I have no experience using SoftTH but I know some people have pulled off some very crazy stuff with SoftTH and Eyefinity - so I'll leave that question to some of those people. That's exactly the kind of things I would like to confirm for nvidia surround. The fact nvidia surround needs SLI mode to wo... |

What I need to know is if at all effects, the virtual surround monitor doesn´t interferes with the extra monitor. If I can have a 3D (no stereo) accelerated application in the three main monitors, and any 2D application in the extra monitor (wich would be used to show game data information). I know ... |

I'm interested in a triple surround configuration + extra touch monitor for sim purposes. Any potential problem?. I´m asking because SLI is new for me, so I want to be sure about the steps to follow. I suppose the touch monitor output wouldn´t be in SLI, if so, ¿can be that a problem for gaming? Tha... |

It's actually 8192, but it really seems that that rule of thumb does work often. I have played a lot of game over that limit. I guess it depends on the engine. I know it´s 8192, but it´s supposed to be directx10 maximum resolution, not engine dependent. Anyway fine for me. Maybe do 5x2560x1600 in th... |

Following on from that, I'd be very interested, given that TechPowerUp! has shown that PCI-E bandwidth has almost no impact on fps even with GTX480s until you cut bandwidth down to PCI-E 1x... how much of an impact reduced PCI-E bandwidth has on Surround. I agree with the low importance in general o... |

Interesting point, do you have 3 x GTX 480 and are you a NV Surround user ? I must rectify my previous statement. I think there is no difference in tri-sli between using 2-outputs for one card and using one output for each card. The bandwidth used through pcie should be the same. I have 3x30" with a... |

Even at 5760x1200, 2GB cards run out of RAM in some games. Without anti-aliasing In some games?, yes, but not in many. Most console ports barely exceeds 700MB at 7680x1600 0xAA. Having 1.5GB should be more than enough for most games. Some games are very vram hungry (GTA4, and in minor scale STALKER,... |

Is there any problem with 2x470/2x480 if I would launch three-five 3D accelerated windows (multiple instances of same game or two different games at once in different monitor) across three monitors?. Would it be neccesary to deactivate SLI to do this?

And I hate to break it to you but games that are specifically console ports won't look a lot better on the PC. Often times the FPS will be a lot worse too (e.g. GTA4). So why wait many months for a PC release (I played AC2 last year already) just to get shafted by the multitude of PC problems? Perfo... |

Multi-mon isn't a big advantage in RTSes cause none of them have done it right.. the only game that has come close is Supreme Commander with its dual monitor support - you get 2 viewports, 1 per monitor. Unfortunately the secondary monitor was missing all the HUD elements. Even with distortion at bo... |

AA is often not not worth the performance hit at 7680x1600 as it doesn't make much difference visually to me Mostly agree, but some games are visually more susceptible to aliasing (NFS Shift and other car games and sims, for ex). I guess I don't have to tell you that with 3x30" Eyefinity is a no-bra... |

I have a 3x30" too, using SoftTh + 285gtx + 8800u, and after some testing it´s true that most games doesn´t need more than 1GB (notable exception is GTA4, and FC2/CRYSIS in the edge of 1GB). That´s of course, without any AA. But, if you want AA in some games, maybe you need larger framebuffer. For m... |

I am pretty sure your wrong there, the 5040x1050@57hz limit is due the the bandwidth limitations of a single dvi connection Yes. I didn´t say otherway, but there are still limits (8000x8000 max texture limit). With eyefinity each monitor has its own dedicated connection to the video card so it can s... |

Ill buy the 5870 2 Gb asap, im tired of the 5040x1050 57Hz + DX 9 limit of matrox, even that chinese adapter can run DX 10 at 5040x1050 60 Hz, and eyefinity supports DX 9, DX 10 and DX 11 at any resolution. 5040x1050@57Hz is not a DX9 but a DVI/HDMI one. DX9 is still there, and even with eyefinity y... |

Im going to presume that if eyefinity is available on 5850/5870 on release then they will have it working in crossfire on release - im pretty sure they realise people are going to want as much performance as they can get and would preffer to have an extra card sold. Is confirmed, in ATI website, tha... |

with all these talk of DX limits
what about OpenGL?
It´s not an api limit, but a hardware one. Directx10 requires 8000 max limit, so directx10 level cards can go up to 8000 whatever the api |
