Brilliant, that makes perfect sense.

Thanks very much!

This is probably a stupid question, and I'm almost sure I know what the answer is, but I just need to clear something up :) I've acquired 3 BenQ monitors with DVI and VGA connectors. All 1920x1200. Now, my XFX 6950 has 2 DVI connectors, 1 HDMi and 2 mini displayport. Currently, I've got two monitors...

It's been free for about 15 years? A company called "Freeloader" first offered it for free years ago (at least in the UK), along with a few others including Jimmy White's Cueball 2. It was back in the days of 56k and if I recall correctly a lot of the textures had been compressed badly, and the game...

Generations is looking pretty awesome to be honest! Classic 2D gameplay with really well put together graphics. Can't wait :) Last sonic game I loved was Sonic R. It did well on the Saturn in 97 (I think) but didn't get released on anything else for a long time after. My fav is still Sonic CD. Aweso...

Sadly it wouldn't allow me to output to both ...

Ah that definitely sounds like too much of a wait. I'm not really *that* bothered about the price, but I don't like the idea of spending more than £300 on a graphics card, and the additional performance of the 6970 over the 6950 didn't seem like it was worth the price. Yeah I think I'll just get the...

Thanks Gilly! If clone will output the display to both monitors then that would be a great solution. I don't mind having to switch the res down, at least 1920x1080 on the Dell could just have some black bars on the top and bottom (and doesn't take long to do). If that's the case with ATI then I'll p...

I loved the original Planetside. It's the only MMO I've ever played. I just loved the fact I could get a huge transport plane, wait around for a squad to jump on board, fly above an enemy base and then watch everyone bail out before joining them myself. The only shame was once you logged on the next...

Hey all, it's been a long time since I've stopped by, I hope you're all well! I still read the newsletter but sadly don't do much gaming at the moment! My poor Core2Duo/8800GTX setup is on it's last legs (And needs to have the CMOS battery removed before every boot to get it to start up properly!) s...

Red Alert 2 Morrowind Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Half Life 2 Mario Kart (Gamecube) Need for Speed: Most Wanted Those are the games I've enjoyed this decade.... sadly, I could have had a list 10 times longer for the last decade. I guess it shows how little gaming I've don...

Definately arcade style games. NFS: Road Challenge/High Stakes is still one of my all time favorite racing games, but it's pure arcade action all the way, there isn't really much of a sim element to it, except for a pretty basic damage model. The earlier ones are even more arcady - but still good, e...

I'm quite fussy with racing games, if the handling isn't right it totally ruins the experience for me, but you can have arcade style games where the handling is pretty good and feels fairly accurate, even if it's a bit off in other areas. Here's my take on the ones I've played: 2000: 6 - Metropolis ...

There were a fair few racing games that were made far better thanks to Glide: Screamer 2, Screamer Rally and Motorhead. I absolutely loved those games! MDK had a nice Glide patch (and later a D3D patch), though the game looked excellent with the software renderer anyway. G-Police and Overboard were ...

Actually, the last time I played through Quake it was using the Doom III engine! How do you do that? I've never heard of this before. The closest I've seen is something called the Tenebrae engine, which uses Doom III-like lighting effects. Yes it was Tenebrae. At the time I think I downloaded it fr...

Definitely worth the effort! I might write up a short FAQ of getting it up and running quickly (no no-one needs to google and read a load of documentation like I did). What I really like is the distant blurring, it really helps the depth of field, and it means you don't notice any lack of texture de...

Just updated with pics. I didn't have any trouble installing it at all- once I had the correct version (from SourceForge). I just installed Morrowind, Tribunal, Bloodmoon and then the latest patch (in that order). Then I install the MGE (you just unzip it to the Morrowind folder) and ran the configu...

It's a tough choice to make actually, though as a rule I'd say if a game does have hardware support- then use it. Back in the day I had a Pentium 120 that struggled to run games at 640x480 (then considered Hi-Res). When I finally bought a 3DFX card, it really opened up a world! Tomb Raider was unpla...

Wow. Tha...
