Gecko, thank you for the answer. I think I'll take your advice and wait a week or two before ordering and will pick one up around Christmas. Hopefully, dell will be running some better deals at that time as well. I'm really looking to find that monitor I'm going to stick with for a long time. I've o...

So what's the general consensus on this monitor, fellas? I've been reading about the Green/Pink Tint issue. How noticeable is it? My primary use is gaming, but I don't want to be stuck with a monitor that's going to bug the hell outta me when I should be enjoying the game instead. I'm currently usin...

Hey Paradigm Shifter, were the steps that I wrote out for you helpful? Or are you still having issues running the game?

Mismatch, you could send me your saved game file and let me try to get through the elevator for you, then I'll quickly save afterwards (can't remember if there is a save point close by after you get off the elevators) send you the updated saved game file and you should then be able to continue on. I...

damn.. the great escape is further "away" then i thought somehow FFVII keeps crashing as soon as i walk out of the 60th floor elevator in the shinra building :? :( Do you have compatibility mode set to Windows 98 in the properties of the FF7.exe? If that's not working, try Windows 95 Mode. As I rec...

does anyone know where all the 1/35 scale Shinra Soldiers were? i take it there are 12 lol, and what happens when u get them? The 1/35 Scale Shrina Soldiers have no real purpose in the game for collecting them. No one (as far as I know) has found any use for them what-so-ever. It's still a mystery ...

yea im glad i got it working... tho i fear it's going to cost me a lot of time once more  when i was playing the PSX version years ago i was really addicted and FFVII is still the single player game i put the most time in ever. I just cant remeber that it was so pixelated.. ooh well i can pla...

There's nothing you can do about that. As that's pretty much how the game looks @ 640x480 as well. Remember this game is from late 1997 (PC Version anyways) so if you expect great detail out of everything you're in for disapointment. Right where you are, the back round doesn't look to good. Wait unt...

Well, I hope it works for you. But if it doesn't make sure to try the duck patch as that does resolve some issues and also plop the movies on your HDD since that also seems to help eliminate some issues. This thread was very helpful to me as well getting the game to work properly, so read through it...

I know the game natively supports it, as my uncle is playing it @ 1440x900. He did not need to hack the game or anything else to get it to run properly either. Perhaps the newer patch you are using disabled these widescreen resolutions.

Okay PS. Here's what I do to get FFVII running on Windows XP: 1. Install FFVII without DirectX 5 or the Movie player that comes packaged with the installer. (Just install the items that are required by the game). But do a FULL install when asked. 2. Install Official 1.02 Patch. available here: http:...

Looking at his pictures. I notice one of them was showing the same signs that you were describing, Red lines and such. He said the reason that happened for him was because he was using Bilinear Interpolation. Make sure you have Trilinear Interpolation enabled, in your video card drivers. Hopefully t...

hmmm...I'm not sure... what video card are you using? I don't experience this when playing the game. Perhaps you could play with some of your graphics settings to make it work? Make sure in your FFVII Configuration to that the resolution is set @ 640x480 Full Screen and that the Nvidia Box is check ...

Here's some pictures I took of my monitor while playing (sorry the camera is a little shaky). As you can see from the pictures if you use the 1280x1024 Patch it will leave a black bar at the bottom of the screen. You will not get a black bar if you use the 1280x960 patch, so test the 960 version out...

Hey guys just wanted to update this with a screenie that I took today with the High-Res Patch. The Patch I use is the 1280x1024 instead of the 1280x960, and although it does leave a black bar at the bottom of the screen, it doesn't look as pixelated as the 1280x960 when stretched out to 1680x1050. N...

Don't give up! Get the High Resolution patch which will allow resolution of 1280x960 or 1280x1024. I know these are not wide screen resolutions, but I just played it on my new monitor today and it doesn't look bad at all. Download and read about the patch here: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topi...

Stonekeep for DOS/Windows 95 was my very first PC game that I still love to this day (too bad I have to dual boot XP Pro with windows 98se just to play it).

First console game was Super Mario Brothers for regular NES. What a classic that one is.
