Ugh, I hate when TV manufacturers list it like that. Technically speaking, 1080i can't be a native resolution. It can and is, his TV is a rear projection CRT which is 1080i native. Also, to get 1080i on your PC, simply right click on your desktop select > properties > settings and then set your res...

Yeah, the patch added non-4:3 resolution support, but it only renders the HUD correctly in widescreen, but the 3D view is just 4:3 stretched so we need a way to hack the horizontal FOV to fix it.

I don't think it's stretching the image or anything.

Do you think it is a story about a fat guy I take it? :P

If you can't get to the driver options then your drivers are borked and you should uninstall and then resinstall them.

Halo's default FOV is 70; so what does that make the proper FOV settings for 16:9 and 16:10? I don't know the math to figure that out, but the pic above has obviously has the FOV set way to high. I have been using 85 for my FOV in Halo and that feels right. I tried to reply in the Halo solution thre...

Ah yeah sorry, I misunderstood. I just couldn't imagine playing games stretched as the moving faster on the vertical axis compared to the horizontal just messes with me. I played it cropped to 1600x900 which worked fairly well for the most part, but the zoomed FOV is a bit uncomfortable at some poin...

That isn't stretched it is cropped, just like Halo without the FOV hack which makes sense seeing as how they use the same engine.

I'm interested in playing the game but curious about widescreen support, controller support, and performance. Anyone have the skinny on any of that?

That just depends on what display you have, with mine all it takes is pressing the aspect ratio button on the remote a few times.

Did you try dissabling SLI? As for being streched, yeah Flat Out just doesn't support widescreen aspect ratios even though it does support widescreen resolutions. There are a number of games that are like that.

Wow, I'd play pillarboxed before I ever play a game stretched that much. I'm crossing my fingers for a patch at this point or maybe I'll get it for the 360.

I'm not quite sure how it works, but I am now using a 4:3 resolution with the game runing in widescreen mode so it looks proper when stretched to 16:9. It has something to do with the way the config file sets itself up as if I delete that I have to start the game with a widescreen resolution the fir...

Wow, thank you very much. I had started the game with default settings and only tried widescreen resolutions after that which wound up both stretched and croped so I have played about half the game pillerboxed thinking that was as good as it gets but those shots prompted me to dig a little further. ...

Use the Calalist Control Center's display manager to set your second display to run as an extended desktop instead of running in clone mode, that way you don't have find resolutions that work on both your TV and your monitor, you can set the two individually.

[quote]JediRory, what was that post good for? no info. Have you tried hooking it up to a regular monitor and choose the correct aspect ratio and resolution as I said? No point to answer with NO helpful info. The 16:9 info wasn´t info as I don´t think anyone here thought a tv would have a diff...

There isn't really post-render effects in Advent Rising best I can tell, well maybe for some of the powers effects and such but that should just break AA when it happens like in Max Payne 2 with bullet time and such. I did dissable all the advanced graphics options though just on the chance somethin...

I'm pretty sure the deal is the game was designed for the Xbox werer 480i/p games are rendered at 640x480 or whatever and the dashboard "widescreen" setting simply controls the FOV and letterboxing. It is odd though that Widescreen off is clearly letterboxed to 16:9 while with Widescreen on you can ...
