I am actually quite pleased with the way the game looks, real gritty like Fallout. Most of the graphical overhead is caused by the advanced lighting and realtime shadows. Because of the way the sun tracks overhead they couldn't use any static shadows, it's all dynamically rendered. They also use a m...

To be honest there's much bigger bugs to fry in the game. Proper widescreen is probably waaaaaaaaaaay down on the list of things to do.

Especially if you're an early adopter of Vista, it hates older copy protection. NOCD cracks are a must with it.

Most of the time games have different publishers and copy protection methods in different countries of distribution. No way to tell what they'll use out here, they used securom in Germany for Stalker.

Be aware that the SLI profile is incorrect by default. You have to switch it to include: nwn2main.exe. Otherwise it does not enable SLI.

Nvidia screws this up more than they should.

If you buy the box copy, in the states anyway, you can use both the steam version and the copy on the DVD with the same code. I got the DVD for 10 USD less than the Steam version so all is good.

BTW if you like the action games such as Jedi Academy, you should dig this game also.

With those specs mate, You'd have no problems at all! It's a great game and the stutering only happens once every so often on different levels. If it's the same stuttering as most people are getting, it only happens in transition areas, mostly in and out of caves. Their code for streaming the diffe...

Ok.... is it a requirement of licensing the Doom3 engine that the game be a futuristic corridor shooter? Don't get me wrong, I actually like Doom3 and Quake 4, but Prey looks exactly the same. I swear ID says "Ok.. here's the Doom 3 SDK, would you like all of our models and textures? It sure would ...

Out of curiosity I looked it up and according to GameSpy preview QuakeWars will use updated D3 engine that has some kind of new Mega Texture technology that allows for creating large terrains by creating one huge texture as a battlefield. So the engine used in QW is not the same D3 engine used in Q...

So what you're saying is that the Quake Wars trailers and screenshots all all fake?

You're still confusing artistic direction with engine capabilites.

No, I am talking about the engine. Q4 and D3 were two major (at least in terms of hype) games based on this engine. If these games are not good indicators of the D3 engine's capabilities then what would be? In both games the outdoor areas are underwhelming, even the sky looks horrible. There was su...

I did see the QuakeWars videos, but until I see the actual game in action I won't change my opinion. I don't give in to hype and so far everything I saw based on D3 engine was totally unimpressive. Quake4 videos looked good too. Besides, I don't care if some engine is higher tech than other, it doe...

Can Doom3 engine actually render large outdoor areas? I seriosuly doubt it. I don't even think it can render any large indoor spaces unless most of it is hidden in darkness. All outdoor areas in Quake4 are spectacularly crappy. I'd rather see more games with HL2 engine or even FarCry. Z. Have you e...

It's all subjective. Everyone here who is playing it at 1900x1200 or above with high details are probably averaging below 30fps, likely below 20.

Some people find that acceptable, some people find it makes their eyes bleed.

When you post shots comparing widescreen vs 4:3, you have to post shots from the exact same spot.
