AMD Releases Catalyst 11.7 Driver Update

AMD Catalyst™ driver 11.7 Features

There are few features or fixes specifically for Eyefinity users. Most of the improvements and fixes revolve around Blu-Ray and 3D Blu-Ray playback, and other video playback features. The gaming related fixes are:

All issues experienced with mouse cursor lag have been resolved
Resolves system hangs seen in the AMD Catalyst 11.6 driver on specific HDMI and DP displays
Random screen corruption is no longer displayed when changing desktop themes.

The Witcher 2 Patch Released: Now Hor+ in Widescreen

CD Projeckt has released path v1.3 for The Witcher 2. The patched added support for 5:4, 4:3 and 16:10 displays. The game is now Hor+ in widescreen, rather than being Anamorphic. It also added support for NVIDIA Surround. However, the patch did not enable Eyefinity support. Those users will still need to use the fix from HaYDeN.

Site Performance Issues

We are currently experiencing site performance issues since migrating to Drupal. We did not experience this issues on our Drupal development site, and we are working diligently to fix the the problems. We apologize for the inconvenience with slow page loads and ask that you bear with us while we work out the issues.

EDIT:-We have made some modifications which appear to have resolved the slow loading times, please check the site out and let us know if you have still experience performance issues.

Sony says PSN hack was "great experience"...

Sony exec <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/311557/news/psn-hack-was-great-experience-sony-exec-states-oddly/">Tim Schaaff</a> proves once again that big corporations live in some bizarre otherworld where reality intrudes but rarely. <a href="http://venturebeat.com/2011/07/13/gamesbeat-2011-psn-downtime/">GamesBeat</a> reports that he said it was a "Great experience, really good time. Though I wouldn't like to do it again."

Was he joking? Or could he actually be serious? The hacking of PSN was probably the worst and most public intrusion of a major developer or publisher in recent history, although it was quickly followed by the hacking of Codemasters, Sega, Nintendo and SquareEnix, among others.

NVIDIA's new FXAA Antialiasing

Hardocp digs into the new FXAA from Nvidia and shows what it can give us in games. FXAA is short for "Fast Approximate Anti-Aliasing". This new anti-aliasing technique from Nvidia can be found in a couple of games already. Its also rumored to be an option in upcoming Battlefield 3. What is also special about FXAA, is that it runs on both AMD and Nvidia card, so its not just yet another vendor specific AA technique.

Rugby League 2

Rugby League 2 is the sequel to the highly successful NRL Rugby League, and was released on December 9, 2005 for PlayStation 2 and Microsoft Windows, and in June 2006 for Xbox. The sport is similar to rugby union, but features set tackles rather than rucks and mauls - once a player is successfully tackled he plays the ball back to a team-mate behind him, with the team losing possession if tackled 6 times.
