Baseline (Widescreen) Solution & Issues

Widescreen resolutions are natively listed in-game but everything stretches from 4:3 unless modded.

  1. For retail versions install Game Patch 2 first if you haven't already.
  2. Download the 1nsane widescreen mod and extract its PATCH folder into the installation folder. Fix available from the PC Gaming Wiki Community Files (search there).
  3. Run the appropriate batch file to use that aspect ratio for all resolutions (run a different one to change aspect ratios).

This mod also fixes the speedometer aspect ratio but other HUD elements are still stretched.

FMV videos and pre-game menus always run at 640x480 (with or without the widescreen mod).
