Baseline (Widescreen) Solution & Issues
There are virtually no cutscenes, although a major game update may greet the player with a short FMV, and every match as a survivor starts with a quick rotation around the character. These are 16:9 anamorphic.
Ultra/Super-Wide (21:9/32:9) Specific Solution & Issues
It used to be possible to switch the game to vertical field of view via a config edit, however, an update in 2017 patched it out.
A setting introduced in March 2022 makes it possible to switch between pillarboxing to 16:9 and vert-, however, all menu screens remain vert- irrespective of the state of the option.
The game also uses Easy Anti-Cheat, preventing attempts to modify it for better scaling.
Eyefinity / Surround Specific Solution & Issues
As in ultra-wide, the 3D view of the menu screens is vert- at all times and the UI elements are spanned. The characters' heads are out of the view, making it impossible to preview any of the head customization items and some other cosmetics at 48:9.
The gameplay is also vert-, making the game effectively unplayable unless the 16:9 aspect ratio is enabled under Graphics, which makes the view and the HUD pillarboxed to 16:9.
